A Gilded Age Love Affair in Elkins Park, PA
1750 ASHBOURNE ROAD | ELKINS PARK, PA
Forty-two acres in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, and unlike anything else in the region, Elkins Estate is home to a collection of historic mansions set across one of the most remarkable private estates on the East Coast. Grand architecture, overnight accommodations, and expansive grounds come together to create a setting designed for extraordinary celebrations.
Elstowe Manor anchors the estate. Designed by renowned architect Horace Trumbauer for industrialist William Elkins in 1898, the mansion features hand-painted murals, soaring ceilings, sweeping staircases, and 69 guest rooms that allow you and your guests to celebrate for more than a single evening. Chelten House, an English Tudor mansion opening in Fall 2026, will introduce a second distinctive event setting to the property and expand the estate’s overnight accommodations.
Elkins Estate welcomes celebrations ranging from intimate gatherings to receptions of up to 300 guests in Elstowe Manor, with full estate buyouts available.

Overnight Accommodations
With 69 guest rooms located throughout Elstowe Manor, Elkins Estate allows family and friends to gather, celebrate, and stay together throughout the wedding weekend. Couples and guests can wake up inside the mansion, share breakfast in the dining room, wander the grounds between events, and enjoy the rare experience of having everyone they love together in one place. Rather than arriving for a few hours and heading home, friends and family remain part of the celebration from the first welcome toast to the final farewell.
For couples reserving the Ultimate Wedding Weekend, three suites are included as part of the experience. Additional guest rooms may be reserved individually or through a coordinated room block, and your Event Stylist can assist with accommodations planning.

Getting Ready at Elkins Estate

Our Event Stylists are your single point of contact and creative collaborators from your first venue tour to your last dance. At most venues, the person who sells you the space is not the person running your wedding day. At Elkins Estate, they are the same person. Your stylist will know your floor plan, your timeline, your preferences, and your vendors before your wedding morning begins. There is no handoff, no briefing a new team, no starting over.

About Elkins Estate
A Gilded Age Legacy Since 1898
Elkins Estate was built at the height of the Gilded Age as the private residence of industrialist and philanthropist William Elkins. Designed by renowned architect Horace Trumbauer and finished with interiors by the celebrated French firm Allard & Fils, Elstowe Manor was created to entertain on a remarkable scale, welcoming some of the era’s most influential figures, including John D. Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, and Peter Arrell Browne Widener.
When Jeanne and Frank Cretella welcomed Elkins Estate into the by Landmark collection in 2019, their goal was to preserve what made it exceptional in the first place. The result is a restoration that honors the craftsmanship, artistry, and scale of one of the Philadelphia region’s most significant historic residences. With the addition of Chelten House in Fall 2026, the estate continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to the vision that first brought it to life more than a century ago.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Elkins Estate?
Elkins Estate is a stunning 42-acre historic estate in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia. Originally built in 1898, the property features a collection of architecturally significant mansions being restored and reimagined by Landmark. Today, the estate hosts private wedding celebrations with the grandeur of a fully restored Gilded Age landmark.
What event spaces are available at Elkins Estate for weddings?
What is the Elstowe Manor at Elkins Estate?
Elstowe Manor is the crown jewel of Elkins Estate, a fully restored Italian High Renaissance mansion that anchors the property with grandeur, history, and a sense of occasion unlike anything in the Philadelphia region. Built in 1898 and designed by the renowned French firm Allard et Fils, the manor features soaring frescoed ceilings, hand-painted murals, marble columns, ornate chandeliers, and carved panels that speak to a distinctly European sensibility.
At its heart is the Grand Ballroom, a beautifully proportioned event space with classic clean lines, slate floors, and a neutral palette that lets your vision take center stage. With 69 onsite guest rooms thoughtfully restored to blend modern comfort with original character, Elstowe Manor is designed for a full wedding weekend: arrive, settle in, celebrate, and wake up the next morning still wrapped in the estate.
What is Chelten House at Elkins Estate?
Chelten House is the second mansion at Elkins Estate, an English Tudor residence tucked beside sweeping lawns, a quiet pond, and a romantic fountain. Where Elstowe Manor makes a grand statement, Chelten House feels more intimate: vows exchanged in softer light, evenings that linger, and overnight rooms that mean your closest guests don’t have to say goodbye when the music ends.
Designed for up to 130 guests, Chelten House is ideal for couples who want the full estate experience, private grounds, onsite accommodations, and by Landmark hospitality, in a setting that feels personal rather than palatial. Chelten House is debuting Fall 2026, and is now accepting inquiries for its first celebrations.
What is a full wedding weekend?
The Ultimate Weekend Experience at Elkins Estate is designed to turn your celebration into a multi-day experience, rather than just a single event.
Instead of arriving, celebrating, and leaving all in one day, couples have the opportunity to extend the experience across one of the estate’s historic mansions.
That typically includes time for a welcome gathering or rehearsal dinner, a full wedding day celebration, and a farewell brunch the following morning.
What makes it feel so special is the setting itself—guests are immersed in a private, historic mansion where each part of the weekend unfolds in a different space, all within the same estate grounds. It allows everyone to settle in, connect more naturally, and enjoy the celebration without feeling rushed from one moment to the next.
